Algae Bloom

The bright pink in this aerial landscape reminds me of the colour of flamingos. Their colour comes from eating algae that contains carotenoid pigments, a red-orange pigment that’s found in high amounts within the algae, brine fly larvae, and brine shrimp in their wetland environments.

Flamingos eat both the algae and shrimp-like critters, which contribute to their fabulous pinkness.
